IRVINE, CA, July 23, 2013 – Steve Balyakin, MD, PhD, FFPM, CMC, recently was named Senior Medical Director of ClinDatrix, Inc. He will lead the patient safety and medical monitoring activities for the Irvine-based contract research organization (CRO). Prior to accepting the full-time position, Dr. Balyakin provided medical monitoring as a
consultant to ClinDatrix.

Murphy, PhD, MBA, President and CEO of ClinDatrix. “Steve provides medical expertise as well as 20 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical companies and other CROs. His insights help guide our clients’ product development efforts whether they are designing their protocols or tracking patients in post-marketing studies.”

Prior to joining ClinDatrix, Balyakin worked for Allergan, Inc. for seven years as Senior Medical Director with the BOTOX® Neurology and Dermatology Clinical Departments and focused on products including BOTOX®, LATISSE®, and others. Previously he served as Vice President, Medical & Regulatory Affairs at Clinimetrics for three years. In
addition, he worked for a number of other pharmaceutical companies and CROs including Medical & Technical Research Associates, Inc.; G.D. Searle & Co.; Pharmaceutical Product Development, Inc.; and Alliance Pharmaceutical Corp. Originally from Russia, Dr. Balyakin practiced internal medicine for more than 10 years in his native country.
Earlier in his career, Balyakin worked as Associate Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine in the N.I. Pirogoff Medical School (Moscow). He earned his MD degree from the Vladivostok State Medical School in Vladivostok, Russia, and his PhD from N.I. Pirogoff Second State Medical School in Moscow. He completed his postgraduate training in Clinical Pharmacology and Drug Development at the Center for the
Study of Drug Development at Tufts University, Boston, MA. Balyakin is a member of the American Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators, a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians (London), and a charter member of the National Language Service Corps (NLSC) of the U.S. Department of Defense. He also is a certified MedDRA coder.
